Chemical Cleaning and debrazing to UHV requirements: Ceramics, Plastics, Metals and other materials Removal of Particles, glass cleaning, removal of polymer films on fused silica, Hydrocarbons, Inorganic Salts.
Ultra High Vacuum Specialist and UHV System Design: vacuum processing system design, leak detection systems and gas handling. Micro contamination control. Vacuum courses, proper handling of UHV components, leak detection classes and contamination awareness education. Using Mass Spectrometers and alternative processing such as flow through for improving your vacuum process.Experience with doing lifetime studies and leak up rates and gas analysis. Outgassing studies to improving sealing surfaces to better vacuum brazing to improving system performance by provisioning with the correct material and or type of vacuum seal.
PIC MICRO CONTROLLER; Basic system control (open, close valves pump down times) controlled with either basic electronics or use of PIC micro controllers with customizable software of our design. Cost savings step reduces expenses for other system control schemes.
POLYMER SEALS: Hermetic Seal Development: Develop polymeric seals for vacuum applications. Reformulation of polymers with ceramics and nano particles provides superior mechanical properties and reduced permeation rates than standard polymers.
Viscous flow processing: A low temperature ~ 100 C Vacuum Process for packaged devices that require removal of internal volatile contaminants but cannot be subjected to the high temperatures required by standard vacuum processing methods. Depending on processing time, ppm levels can be attained with proper device preparation and bake out conditions, interface design - device bakeout does not need to exceed 100 C in many instances) vs standard vacuum processing.Especially useful for moisture removal. The advantages are lower device bakeout temperature and is not constrained by vacuum interface conductance) Please see our new technical section for details. Chemical and materials investigations: The appropriate surface or bulk analysis of a material can provide valuable insight into how it reacts with its operational environment. Understanding that the surface determines the material properties in many cases. For optical materials the surface can alter the performance, longevity and reliability of a device. Many times a better understanding of material properties will provide a framework for device failures and lifetime.
Process control and development: Entropy LTD has proven success in solving difficult manufacturing issues in a variety of industries, semi conductor, optical, laser, x ray tube, hi intensity lamp manufacturers and bio technical. With experience working in many fields this is brought to bear on issues from thermal optics, to fixing semi conductor chips from failing QC testing. There have been many significant challenges that have been resolved helping companies reduce warranty costs, improve yields and increase product lifetime. Contact us for your specific requirements.
Some products are effected by contamination; causing either immediate issues or degradation of performance over time. The impact of micro contamination is severely underestimated by some companies and problems that may appear as materials issues can be resolved by successful identification and control of micro contamination.
Analysis of either a materials surface, its bulk or of the environment is very important in establishing what contaminants might be responsible for detracting from product yields. Experience in which technique and more importantly, how to correctly interpret the results, will assist in finding a cost effective solution for your contamination issue.
Performing the correct chemical analysis of a material has lead to resolving a number of significant issues for various companies from lasers that lose energy with time, to power supply IC's that fail quality control testing, to a CCD camera's output declining.
TOF AND DYNAMIC SIMS for surface chemical composition. TOF is a very sensitive surface technique that discrimates between organics and inorganics. Dynamic SIMS offers 2D image of the surface along with highly specific concentration profiles as a function of depth.
FTIR offers a precise method to identify and quantify organics present on surfacs or to investigate the composition of an unknown solution. Very useful for proving a chemical cleaning process.
AFM: Atomic force microscopy. Used to quantify surfaces. First used effectively to quantify optical surfaces in the early 1990's to improve polishing technqiues.
ICP (Induction Coupled Plasma Spectrscopy) This assays the elemental composition of the material. EIther bulk as in digestion ICP or surface as in Laser Ablated or LA - ICP. Highly sensitive and very accurate to the PPB level.
RBS: Rutherford Backscattering. Used to examine concentrations as a function of depth for hydrogen and other specific atoms.
GC-MS Gas Chromatography -Mass Spectroscopy. For studying gas impurities in samples.
Narrow Band Photometric gas analysis: This eliminates the need for heating the sample and reduces mass selection effects and the contribution of system from the sample. This technique can be done close to the sample and can be useful for leak detection to outgassing of materials with time while maintaining sample isolation.
We also offer yield and performance improvement services for manufacturers.
With over 32 years of technical experience in Chemistry, Engineering, Materials Science and Ultra High Vacuum Technology- Entropy LTD LLC is uniquely qualified to help your company with cost effective and highly reliable methods to tackle Micro Contamination issues.
